Acne Bootcamp

Struggling With Acne?

You've come to the right place. Acne treatments are not just for teenagers. Many men and women in their 20’s and beyond are dealing with spots, bumps, pimples cystic acne and irritated skin. You may have tried many things in the past to manage your acne but you’re still breaking out.

Here at Island Esthetics, we offer an Acne Bootcamp Program that is customized and designed to put your skin on track to clear up within 3-6 months with a combination of in-office treatments, Face Reality Skincare and lifestyle changes. This program has a 97% success rate and is a rigorous program that takes time. It’s a healthy option to cure acne without a prescription that leaves your skin extremely dry and irritated along with kidney or liver damage. There is no one-size-fits all products, no quick-fix “magical cure” claims. Acne does not happen overnight, nor does it clear up overnight. Acne is complex & will take time, patience, & commitment.

We will then determine your skin type, acne type and skin tolerance to develop a professional treatment plan. A skin sensitivity test will be performed including a full treatment that day. You’ll also receive what I like to call the “Clear Skin Bible” an educational acne packet. That has tons of information about acne along with ingredients/foods to avoid.

Why Choose an Acne Specialist Over a Dermatologist?

Everybody at some point in their life deals with skincare issues! Whether you are dealing with teenage acne, hormonal breakouts, clogged pores, bumps, sun damage, rosacea, brown spots, or just maintaining a youthful and healthy-looking appearance–who should be you see?

How do you know a dermatologist, or an esthetician is a better match for your skincare needs?
Let’s consider the differences between what a dermatologist can do for you versus a licensed esthetician/ acne skincare specialist.
To visit a dermatologist may be a better option for you if you are dealing with Psoriasis, Rosacea, Eczema, or any form of skin rashes, irritations, moles, or bumps that are of concern.
We highly recommend a dermatologist for a skincare analysis to ensure they are not signs of a more severe medical condition.

If it comes to acne specifically – a dermatologist usually prescribes oral antibiotics, topical antibiotics, retinoids and sometimes benzoyl peroxide. If those methods don’t work, doctors will often then prescribe isotretinoin (Accutane), which is very hard on the body and has a lot of serious health risks. Most of these treatments are very irritative, have dangerous side effects.

Certified Acne Specialist can provide acne treatments that can include exfoliation, extractions, chemical peels, and LED Light Therapy which diminishes acne bacteria, clears existing breakouts, reduces inflammation, and increases circulation, speed healing and helps to increase collagen and elastin production. No product or prescription can efficiently remove blockages in the pores that lead to bumps and breakouts.
Estheticians are the ones that perform facials. The client is also put on a strict at-home product regimen to inhibit acne bacteria growth, reduce inflammation, and minimize dead skin cell build–up on the surface of the skin and inside the follicle, where acne initially forms.

Dermatologists and Estheticians often work together to provide a mutual client the best treatments for whatever skincare issues they are dealing with.
Someone who visits a dermatologist first may eventually be recommended to an esthetician for continued maintenance of the health your skin by customized facials or treatments with modalities.
On the other hand, an esthetician may find something concerning about a clients’ skin in an analysis and may advise that they visit a dermatologist for a more detailed look at their skin.

No matter which specialist you choose to work with, their treatments and products will always serve your skin’s best interest.
